September 11, 2016 will mark the fifteen year anniversary of the attacks that will forever resonate in our nation’s history. In an ongoing effort to honor the memory of those impacted, C. Forbes, Inc. has designed a commemorative Fifteen Year Anniversary lapel pin and challenge coin. From the World Trade Center in New York City, to the Pentagon in Washington, D.C., to a field in Shanksville, Pa., the impact of that fateful day keeps us “United in Memory.”

We are also privileged to play a role in this year’s 21st Annual Marine Corps – Law Enforcement Foundation Gala, held April 6, 2016 in New York City. The donation of commemorative Fifteen Year Anniversary lapel pins to all attendees is a small token of our appreciation and gratitude for the Foundation’s efforts to support the children of fallen Marines and Federal Law Enforcement personnel.

Since its founding in 1995, the Marine Corps-Law Enforcement Foundation (MC-LEF) has awarded over $63 million in scholarships and other humanitarian assistance, and supported over 3,500 children. Thanks to generous donors, MC-LEF is currently able to provide a $30,000 scholarship account for every child who loses a parent serving in the United States Marine Corps or any Federal Law Enforcement agency. In recent years, the mission has expanded to provide medical equipment and financial support to catastrophically wounded Marines, as well as, financial support for mentally or physically disabled children of active duty Marines. In the past, MC-LEF has also aided the children of other military personnel who perished in terrorist attacks and in the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan.

MC-LEF is an approved IRS 501(c) 3 organization that has been recognized for its excellence and efficiency by the Independent Charities of America. 98% of all donations to MC-LEF go directly to fund its mission. We would like to encourage you to visit their website and support this all volunteer organization.

The addition of this Fifteen Year Anniversary 9-11 lapel pin and coin to our collection of commemorative products continues our commitment to honor the ideal of American resilience. The design of the four color, antique brass pin includes the Fifteen Year Anniversary date and depicts images of first responders and citizens alike. With U.S. flags unfurled at the sides, the words “United in Memory” remind us of our nation’s resolve.

The front side of the antique brass challenge coin replicates the design of the lapel pin, while the reverse side displays iconic national symbols: the 13-stripe shield, the motto E Pluribus Unum (“Out of Many, One”), and the American Bald Eagle.

Dating back to 1782, the shield symbolizes a “chief” (representing Congress) on top, holding together 13 vertical stripes (representing the original 13 states) beneath it. The motto alludes to the union between the two entities, and is grasped in the beak of a bald eagle. “Out of Many, One” resonates deeply with our ongoing remembrance of the losses suffered at the three locations directly impacted that fateful day.
