C. Forbes celebrates the opening of a new section of the 9/11 Memorial & Museum in NYC. Thursday, May 30 saw the opening of The Glade to the public.
The 9/11 Memorial Glade honors the ongoing sacrifice of rescue, recovery and relief workers, and the survivors and members of the broader lower Manhattan community who are sick or have died from exposure to toxins in the aftermath of 9/11. A permanent and historic modification of the 9/11 Memorial, the Glade also recognizes the courage, selflessness, and perseverance of the men and women of the rescue and recovery effort.Retrieved June 3, 2019 from https://www.911memorial.org/memorial-glade
With this new section comes the issuing of a new 9/11 Memorial Series commemorative coin – an exclusive design by the team here at C. Forbes, Inc. This design adds another facet to the ongoing commemorative series telling a story of courage and perseverance. Embedded in each coin is a fragment sourced from the chiseled stones of the hand-crafted granite monoliths that now rest in the 9/11 Memorial Glade.
This Glade Coin coin takes its place in line as the tenth commissioned coin for the 911 Museum Store. Each previous design has highlighted a small piece of the grand collection that is the museum. They have commemorated aspects such as the rescue dogs, the tribute in light display, the last column, the survivor tree, and more. We’ve found that by pinpointing the particulars that we’ve been able to help design coins that coincide with the impactfulness of the museum’s entirety.
There is so much to take in with the 9/11 Memorial & Museum tour that often things become overwhelming. But there’s always that one small aspect that stands out and tells a story. This was the emotion and feeling that we wanted to incorporate into this Glade Coin. Touching and seeing your very own piece of the monolith stones makes this tangible memento even more impactful.
